When the world began to feel sad because of Covid, I just wanted to feel there was healing in happiness and started to write poems about insights about the virus we were living.
Poetry Virus
Bubble hands
Excuse me,
I have to go to the restroom and wash my hands,
lots of water and soap makes me feel like I dance.
I need to go to the bathroom and think about stupid things,
like why do birds fly or why movies make us cry?
I have to go to the restroom to wonder,
cause it’s cool to be 20 seconds thinking about nothing
and see how my fingers play like little sisters and brothers.
Earth places
First Wuhan,
then was Italy,
and finally, New York,
oh! Wait a minute,
the list goes on and on.
Now Wuhan is better,
Italy is passing through,
New York must come back,
but what’s gonna happen to the world?
We do not know.
Open skies
Airports were once the door of the disease,
People came to our cities and we let them in,
They got down of the airplanes,
and then started the spreading careless,
now airports are closed,
and we feel a little less lost,
the question is…
why the hack we let the door open in the first place?
Friend distancing
A friend and I met in the trail park,
we said hello to each other six feet away,
we spoke six feet away,
we bye-bye waved six feet away.
Social distancing is painful sometimes,
but not this time,
I do not like that friend.
Politic virus
Some politicians take care of lives,
some other politicians take care of the economy,
we wish health for the first ones,
and for the second ones…
we do not give a s***.
Open-close
Everything is closed,
restaurants, stores and malls,
beaches, groceries and parks.
The stadium, museum and planetarium,
midtown, uptown and downtown,
and even we are under lockdown.
But don’t worry,
we discovered more love in humankind,
and that being at home opens our minds.
Health hope
There is a hospital just around the corner and I am afraid,
sometimes I close my windows and sometimes I open them again,
I do not know if the virus can get to me,
I just hope doctors have health.
Sub Crazy
Do you remember the sub?
Always on the run?
Always overflowed?
Now that’s over,
the metro is static,
alone,
Where all the people went?
Where did they go?
Some are in the hospital,
some are bounding out of this crazy world.
Earth again
Today, when everybody is at home,
and thousands of companies stopped work,
the planet is breathing,
and what about global warming?
The warning got down,
now little animals are hanging around,
big animals are curious about how quiet everything got…
plants are growing fresh
and gray-cloudless skies let us see,
the magical world we have never seen.
Birthday song
“Today it is my 10th birthday,” said the child to his folks,
But it’s noon and all he can see is his cats,
he has no dogs,
but wait a minute,
dads got a surprise for him,
“It is incredible,” says the little boy with a big smile,
“a beautiful homemade pie,
and all my friends on Skype singing the happiest song”.
Last kiss
She came back home from work,
she was in another country,
she kissed her mom and her mom kissed her back again,
this is a tragic story,
but it’s real what I say,
Then her mom went to the hospital,
and love did become death.

somebody is coughing right there!
take cover!
protect yourself from the little invisible drops!
this is war!
but we cannot see against who we have to fight!
Knuckle up the virus
My doctor told me I am infected,
First I screamed and then I was scared,
those are the news I’ve never wanted to get,
but now I am here,
fighting till the end,
I will make this thing leave,
but it will never gonna drive me away.
